- where do ravens go to drink?
- to a crow bar.
(Neša)
Election day and return to winter time. Reading burundi, reading Danas (since eight in the morning), reading VolimZrenjanin.com, queues everywhere. „It was never like this“ - well, it's crowded even in Los Angeles at the consulate, despite them opening at 21:00, which is an attempt to allegedly synchronize them with us, and actually a dirty trick to decrease the turnout.
The plan was, at first, for her to put something to simmer, then we go out to vote and be back by the time it's ready. Now seeing the length of the queues, fuck that, lunch first. Counting on our early lunch and there being fewer people when we get there at the time the nurmal people lunch. We'll ride bikes, our polling station is in the old end, in the kindergarten on 25. maj. We could take the car, but no, with the badge of Bicikl gerila, it's proper to put it to use.
Some of the ads by companies are a wink to the people, emphasizing digit three visibly (writing a word beinning with a Z with 3 instead, as З is the cyrillic Z), or the NLB bank which is renamed back - when they bought Komercijalna banka, they were renamed to NLBKB, and now the slogan says „3 letters suffice“. Most of them still stand, some were revoked, never mind, as Krleža said „happened then didn't“, contributes to the atmosphere. Theatre on Slavija canceled the show of „Vlast“ (power, government) and will play „Narodni poslanik“ (people's deputy, aka MP) - both penned by Nušić. The word on today's rečko (serbiana wordle) is „lista“. At Fića's dečko I already expected a theme, so I got four stars on ace („trica“ - trifle, playing card or number three), and „smena“, „vlast“ (shift, power) on deuce.
Whole morning we read and watch the humongous queues, the turnout is incredible.
„3 kisses I want“
After lunch, around 13:00 (having rested our lunch, today's the long 25 hour day), we mounted our bicycles and rode to the old house, to pick the voting invitations. Both Go and Nina got theirs as well. On the gutter, these stickers. Just as incredible as the fifty of „students are winning“ I saw elsewhere, they're always peeled off so offhandedly that the effect is nil, the message remains clear. It was around 13:30 when we voted, in absolute peace and silence, our plan to vote while normal people eat was a blazing success. I took a picture of her voting, to send to the squad meeting, and the chief of the voting committee came to me, saying that he'll have to write an official note because I took pictures. I photoed my wife, here, look... And that gutter, is that here? Nope, that's our house. And the badge should not be here. Ah, that's bicycle guerilla, not political. Okay then, nothing to do here.
Once outside, we sat on the bench for a smoke, and this committee chief went out with his wife, a solid good chick but face powdered to such an extent that she achieved the waxy tan of the „two more months before a hearter and inhumation“. Outside the fence, tensome meters from the gate, tensome young, mostly guys, standing and just chatting. We asked the guy who were they. They're there all day, just watching out, [they] don't miss a thing. Riding back, spotted a new sign on Eva's house: „kombinat, meat and dough“. Ah, a new brzožder, free delivery. Well' we'll try it out once. Dropped by Svetofor too, didn't buy much, but at least they had cat fodder. Almost at home, on the corner I spotted a few girlies going to the MZ (where the voting spot is), one had a voting invitation in hand. The only odd thing was they were officially adult, didn't look so.
Fuckt how large is the ballot, a whole sheet, format A2. You must fold it thrice to insert into the box. Guess because this is Vojvodina, it has to be in foud languages. Just unfolding them will take a whole hour.
By 14:00 the turnout was already above 50%, this is a madhouse. Vučić already took out on the streets the acabs with riot control vehicle and a phallanx of ćacis, lined up between the old palace (presidency) and Ćacilend. Hey, there, there's six and a half more hours before 20:30, when we expect you'll announce victory and incite a storm on the winter pallace. Though, they aren't too loud, they just announce their successes of their provocateurs, who stage a fake attack here and there and get like arrested, tickle me to laugh. Not just burundi, it's Crta as well and several others who estimate the turnout may reach 71% (of 'registered' voters who number mere 200.000 people less than total number on the census, no kids no minors). Which means he's bust. That is, at this turnout he can't steal enough, and what the independent media report (succesfully defended, all kudos to the reporters), many attempted thefts were stopped.
In the afternoon Boba called, on tuesday they'll visit Lena to see the kids, so if we also wanted [to go]. Wel we were [there] yesterday, just go. And they noticed this week that Filip looks like Boba. Then some day the other week we're invited to see them „on the known address“. Ah, you moved in? Well, so so, still don't know where's half the flatware, socks, well everything. We just decided that the house is sufficiently finished. Exactly so, „sufficiently finished“, and once you're in it, everything will go easier than when you're just dropping by. Finished it will never be. Okay, see you when that time comes. They're avoiding weekends, by the way, because Milena does decoraton for parties.
Lena went to vote carrying Filip in a cangaroo, they let her ahead of the line. Milan stayed home with Tanja, went to vote later and had to wait for hours. Eh, „I could have borrowed him to him“. My guess is than in a few weeks nobody will believe us that we didn't wait at all.
Spent the afternoon reading whatever came up. On burundi [there was] general eyeballometry, will the turnout reach 71% - so far it was above 60 only once, in 2008. Around half eight I lied to nap, to skip the excitement, to perform a timejump into near future. Outside, everyone was primed up for a skirmish, people were on the streets, cops downtown, Kralja Milana st. was blocked where RIK (national electoral committee) was, street lights were off there, the gendarmerie had twentysome riot control tanks lined up behind Ćacilend. Past half nine, Vučić still made no attempt to declare victory, one scenario is off the table, or delayed...
Go called, new curved monitor for Neša arrived, plus a digital polaroid shooter for Anita (screen in the back, simple lens and a small thermal printer, not too bad, may it last one spool of paper). During the talk I kept peekong at the right monitor and timely spotted the news that Vučić confessed that he smoked it (as in blowjob). Game over. The cops retreated hastily, nowhere to be seen, and Ćacilend evacuated in minutes.
Then we parted (Neša fired up a few good ones, see above the one I managed to remember, forgot the rest in this half-stunned state). We sat to drink. Yes, it was third evening in a row, but we had a valid reason. By half three I wrote „happy victory to all who celebrate“, which I don't remember at all :). We watched several live feeds and rewound the last couple of hours, just to see people celebrating on squares, jumping, singing, kissing each other at random. The main trophy were the chairs from Ćacilend :). There were videos of people cutting those fences, tearing down the big tents. Not one yellow vest in sight, no reason to have orderlies, the provocateurs won't be paid or dare not appear, there's no disorder, people are happy.
In the morning something combobulated at Jeptel, so we were internetless three times... hoping the third fix will hold (it did). Reading the election day reports all day. In Belgrade a real radna akcija, cleaning the Pionirski park, taking out the garbage. No more Ćacilend, it's the Pionirski park again. Lunch, pohovan'd wings and the leftover pickled eggs and potatoes salad. In the evening, parties on sqares all over the country, except in Zrenjanin, where the party was on Avala. It overwhelmed me in the evening, the tension and whatnot, hit the hay before eleven, couldn't put my jaws together from so much yawning.
Of course, on tuesday I got up at four already, having slept enough. The reporters are still asleep, just when I'd want to read everything that occurred. At least in Danas, Marko Nicović, ex head of police, chimed in. In short, the top echelon of the police was maybe completely stuffed with Vučić's peopls, but the second and third had overcunted and when the provocations began and ćacis started hitting the folks, beginning with the staged incident in Lazarevac, the cops have solidarily (and everywhere simultaneously, kudos to organization) refused to defend them, played dead just as they previously did when ćacis had beaten the people. Except this time there were many more people than ćacis, who then realized that devil took the joke away and just ran in all directions. So the scenario with casualties was avoided, which would be a pretext for him to declare martial law.
The rest of the text being mostly a rehash of [what I have] already read, I went back to reading Andrić, kept reading until half seven, and then she got up too. All the time I ran fes in the back, and somehow my own life now looks prettier, all of a sudden. To avoid napping before lunch, I decided to go to detelina to buy another barrel for the noodles, a broom for the terrace, and pay the electricity. At the corner I saw the whole street there was congested, there was a long truck at the shop, unloading fresh delivery. Further away, between the betting joint and pharmacy, cops and ambulance, and a fallen bicycle. Some old guy signs me to back off, won't be able to pass. I shifted into reverse, I'm at an intersection, and backed up slowly, when the guy started giving me signs to stop. I pressed the brake and saw a bicycle and a leg on the pavement behind me, in the right mirror. Oh fuck where from now, it was all clear three seconds ago. Turned off the engine, went out, helped the old woman, actually another lady helped her up, I tried to lift her bike. It won't stop, it's electric, where's the switch... She turned it off, turning the key. First vehicle ever that I see refusing to stop when hands are off the controls. Well fuck that... no wonder. And for which dick did she come straight behind me, she had at least a meter on either side. She kept bitching and bemoaning but never looking straight at me, kept to that woman who helped her up. I got unnerved somewhat, but okay, but then no damage, I got off cheaply, she bumped her butt and that was it. And apart from the two citizens present, nobody else paid us any attention, everyone was looking at the first accident. I parked on the lawn right behind the unloading truck, bought what I came for, walked away to pay the bills (forgot the onion seeds, not urgent), had luck maneuvering out, was easy with nobody coming from there.
In the evening nobody called, Lena had guests, and we talked with the others over the weekend. Around 22:30 sat to finish the leftovers from the second cask of pear 25, a shot and a half, then switched to this year's cherry. It hit me unexpectedly strongly, and when it came to „let's have a half more“ I took barely a sip of it, just couldn't do more, me soul was asleep. She grumbled a bit how I failed her, she was in the swing... Well so was I but it swung me. We poured the rest back into the bottle and slept.
Wensday, 28th. Quick rumor that Šešelj threw the spoon, just when I felt like switching to quince last night. But nope, will have to wait. Though, he's nowhere. At least he saw the magnum opus of his best student falling apart. The director of Jova's gimnazija was arrested, Zagorska (chief prosecutor) woke up from estivating, the prosecution shifted into the sixth [gear]... Dačić just remembered that he's authorized to arrest... well look at that, how come all of a sudden.
In the afternoon we rolled another batch of noodles, got eggs, got barrel. Saw Lena in the evening, said yes Boba and Milena visited yesterday. Do they plan for expansion? Still not late, and they toyed with the idea for a while, but their spirits got low because almost all of their friends, who decided to birth, ended up on bad terms with each other.
Thursday 29th. Shit emerges. Vulević came out with a story about what did cops get out on the street on election night, and that there indeed was a sound cannon. The VolimZrenjanin portal published screenshots from a viber group „SNS Žarko Zrenjanin“ which was a state employment trading post - public enterprises, schools. Just to spite me, burundi had maintainance almost the whole morning, more off than on. And the Exit festival will be back on Đava (tvrđava - fortress) next summer.
In the afternoon, a link to raspadsistema.com appeared („system's falling apart“), new website refreshing every half an hour, listing resignations, criminal charges, indictments, arrests. When I opened it, there were 6 items for the day, after dinner 13, and before we sat to drink, over 20. I'll keep it open until further, not to accidentally miss a word of it.
Friday 30th. Wrote the 31-V-2015. and... got behind meself. No more backlog of things I noted to write later, did them all already. And of the last notes, at least third was ticked off with „already there“, „the next picture already in“. So as of today, this Byo trasnforms into a, fuckit, a diary. The two-three things I once meant to write and then didn't, most probably won't [write] now either, for different reasons but regardless. Anyway, the current events are competing for attention, the present suddenly became better and I'm not wishing for boredom, no more.
Spun the forum, news, raspadsistema.kom all day, of course... The last news was that NBS (central bank) blocked Damir Macura's Alta bank (who also owns lots of stuff), and in the morning they already initiated bankruptcy, and that Relja Ognjenović, the director of PIO (retirements) fund, was seen packing his rags at some unseemly time, video taken by a neighbor and posted right away. That's the guy who headed a gang of ćacis, who was in charge of breadsiding Šarović and Radić on 15-III-2025.. My comment on that, on burundi, „1 Jojgovanka took it out and slammed the table with it, then smiled at the audience, waiting for an applause. When the vacation is already on and then you try to amend the F in conduct.“.
nb. „Jorgovan“ is lilac; joj is, well, ouch; 'govno' is shit, 'govana' is genitive plural of it. You put it together.
