Yesterday Lena went to some ekskurzija with school, so I drove her there in the morning. Nice and colorful just like when we went in the elementary, except the buses are privatniks' and much better. Didn't make too many shots.
It just occurred to me to see what are european cars like, currently. Month plus some ago I collected on the nets a largish heap of shots of older cars, like this yugo with boosted undercarriage, and also a heap of older fićas, spaček, trabant, some of them historic, some of cultivated oldtimers. And there I understood how many of these cars were full of original solution, can say even constructors' richness of spirit, and how here all the cars look like other cars. There was one model, never saw it close enough to see the make and name, which was spitten image of my corolla, and when in same color, a twin. The market uniform school of thought, everybody knows what cars Amers will buy and what they won't.
So I started with the Frenches. Apart from Poozhoe, which also didn't last, there aren't any french cars here. German are, to an extent, there are audis and beemers, even foltzies (VW, but that's mostly passats, golf I don't remember seeing, and the one even smaller was a failed sales pitch here).
And I found [them]. Yeeeah, what a refreshment. Reno megan (renault megane), they wouldn't be able to sell here even gilded. The front grille in weirdly cropped polygons, rear window vertical. No way, it'll never happen here. And that's when I felt a surge of euronostalgia.
News from home, tetka has problems with spine, gets injections; aunt Milica sold the car for 1250 DEM.
Lena made a guinea pig out of paper mush. My dear finished for herself a suit set made of (rather gray, though) denim. Fits her excellently and I don't remember seeing her wear it too many times.
Now that Berix left me alone for a few days, I put together what I did with the classes from that people, addresses, relationships add-on for vfe (leans on it, can't use without), abd sente them to its author.
„Of course it's generated... why would anyone want to write it manually, when we have computers? :) Some of the stuff may be entirely necessary, some may help, some may prove to be a waste of your time. Not being able to know which is which in advance, here's all of it. “
He chimed in a wek later, in a circular email, „it's ready for beta testing“. Um, well, we're already using it in a product which is our bread and butter...
Went to Richmond on sunday, to see Go and Ricardo, had a nice walk around the university. To differ from the newlybuilt[ one]s, which are all somewhere out of town and practically townships to themselves, this is in the old city centre, spread over a territory of a burrough, so between its building there's also other content, specially those old brownstones built after the big fire from „Gone with the wind“ (our translation of the title is much more poetic). Shrubs in blossom everywhere, and that virginian pooch tree.
In one place we even found a lilac, someone cultivated it, smells really nice, just like at home, it was just a bit beyond its full blossom. Though, in another place we saw it grow over a wall and stretch into the street. Too bad that so much of the old Richmond is decrepit - while we walked we found a part of the Broad street (in our slang, Brodska - ship street) which was in very bad shape. Many façades aren't any better than our rural culture homes converted into warehouses and then abandoned. Again, five hundred meters away, in the university's area, even the fire hydrants on the buildings are in polished unrustable steel, smooth like mirrors.
This night a sudden wind came, shook the branches for some five minutes (the birch by the terrace is just beginning to close off the view, it leafed just enough to be almost opaque, though the leaves are still small, about 3cm wide). Then it all calmed, I even left the terrace door open overnight and it wasn't cold at all. Some petty rain has left the pavement wet, but that was all. As Go said, she trusts the forecast only about current temperature, for anything yet to come they're not just missing, it's an all kudos. Interestingly, they don't publish the air pressure, just show the areas where it is high or low on the maps. The datum wasn't popular at home either, until Studio Bre introduced it.
